The Balanced Leech is a great early spring or late fall fly that is designed to suspend in the water in a horizontal manner when fished in still water lakes and ponds. This positioning of the fly creates the appearance of an irresistible snack to trout and other similar species of fish.
The leech is balanced by extending the shank of the hook past the eye with a pin and then counter balancing the entire thing with a tungsten bead. This pattern utilizes this technique and is further enhanced by using a simi-seal dubbing to give the fly a nice attractive shine and sleek appearance.
These Balanced Leeches are tied on a size 10 90deg barbless jig hook and are available in a wide range of colors.
If you haven't heard of this fly I recommend you look up some success stories and I guarantee you that you will be hooked! Pun intended.
